About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Regional Casualty to join our team at Howden. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for leading the underwriting strategy and appetite for the relevant line of business, working closely with our Chief Underwriting Officer and other senior leaders to deliver our business plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement underwriting strategies to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Lead a team of underwriters to ensure accurate and timely underwriting decisions.
  • Collaborate with capacity providers to establish and maintain strong relationships.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and adjust strategy to meet business objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to underwriting governance frameworks and audit requirements.
Requirements
  • Significant experience in casualty underwriting, including senior authority level roles.
  • Strong understanding of the commercial insurance mid-market and UK regulatory environment.
  • ACII or FCII qualified (or equivalent).
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to adapt to influence across a wide range of stakeholders.
