About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Head of Regional Casualty to join our team at Howden. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for leading the underwriting strategy and appetite for the relevant line of business, working closely with our Chief Underwriting Officer and other senior leaders to deliver our business plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwriting Strategy: Develop and implement underwriting strategies to achieve business objectives, including setting risk appetite and pricing requirements.
  • Portfolio Management: Monitor and report on portfolio performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to optimize results.
  • Capacity Provider Management: Develop and maintain relationships with capacity providers, ensuring adherence to governance frameworks and audit requirements.
  • Underwriting Governance: Establish and maintain underwriting standards and authorities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of underwriters, providing guidance and support to ensure successful business outcomes.
Requirements
  • Experience: Significant experience in casualty underwriting, including senior authority level roles.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
