Job Overview

Service Care Solutions is actively seeking a Finance Assistant Manager to join a Local Authority in London on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Finance Manager for Family Services, focusing primarily on data collection and analysis. A key responsibility will involve compiling a comprehensive list of looked after children from various sources and developing a new placement model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the Budget Monitoring report for relevant services by establishing spreadsheets and tables to improve financial oversight and reporting, while managing responses on forecasts and performance metrics within agreed timelines.
  • Provide accurate and timely budgetary control information to budget holders, including monitoring and forecasting salaries, in line with established standards and objectives.
  • Deliver comprehensive financial support for designated service areas, which includes preparing estimates, completing closing tasks, and offering ad hoc financial guidance, adhering to set standards and deadlines.
  • Oversee all financial processes to ensure compliance with financial regulations by personnel within designated services, reporting any instances of non-compliance, errors, or inadequacies to management, along with proposed solutions.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate Efficiency/Value for Money statements and any subsequent central government initiatives aimed at assessing service efficiency.

Candidate Requirements

  • CCAB/CIMA Qualified Accountant with a background in public sector finance.
  • Proven experience in developing placement models and compiling data for analytical purposes.
  • Familiarity with budget setting and monitoring within Local Authority Finance.
  • Strong understanding of Children’s Social Care Finance.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
