Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Commis Chef to join our team at Holroyd Howe, a leading contract caterer providing fresh and innovative food services to independent schools and colleges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in all aspects of food preparation, production, and service, ensuring the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Supervise and train kitchen assistants, ensuring adherence to food safety and sanitation procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Collaborate with the catering team to execute special events, themed dinners, and other culinary initiatives, showcasing creativity and attention to detail.
  • Assist in menu planning and development, taking into consideration dietary restrictions, nutritional guidelines, and seasonal ingredients, to provide a diverse and appealing menu for our clients.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, culinary techniques, and new ingredients to continuously enhance the menu offerings and overall dining experience.
  • Foster a positive working environment by demonstrating leadership qualities, effective communication, and teamwork, promoting a culture of excellence and innovation.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working in a similar role within a contract catering company or educational institution, with a strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure in a high-volume kitchen environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required, with a fun and enthusiastic attitude and a flexible approach to work.
  • Excellent organization skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and enjoy succeeding as a team.
