Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Senior Dosimetrist to join the Radiotherapy Physics team at Barts Health NHS Trust. The department delivers a comprehensive Radiotherapy service to approximately 2000 patients per year, including a brachytherapy service and a complex Stereotactic Radiotherapy service.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing an efficient and high-quality patient dosimetry service for Radiotherapy. This will involve deputising in the management of the team of dosimetrists, providing advice to Clinical Oncologists, Radiographers, and Physicists on complex dosimetric treatment plans, and participating in the teaching, training, and development work of the Section.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complex treatment planning, including Stereotactic (SRS and SABR), VMAT, and dynamic IMRT Planning
  • Independent checking of treatment plans and providing dosimetric advice following image review of patients on treatment
  • Working within a Quality Management System
  • Participating in the development of Adaptive Radiotherapy Planning
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Radiography (Therapy) or equivalent, HCPC Registration (Therapeutic Radiographer), and evidence of Continued Professional Development. Significant experience as a therapy radiographer in dosimetric planning, including experience of Inverse Planning and IMRT/VMAT, is essential. Treatment Planning experience on Eclipse and knowledge of radiotherapy physics and In vivo dosimetric techniques are also desirable.
