Position Overview

We are seeking a Lead Research Technician to contribute to the "Therapeutic vulnerabilities in solid tumors and sarcoma group" led by Dr. Sophie Postel-Vinay.

This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a newly established group collaborating with a dynamic team at UCL Eastman Dental Institute. The innovative program focuses on developing and assessing novel therapeutic strategies aimed at targeting aggressive sarcomas that currently lack effective treatments, utilizing small molecules and antibody-based methods at the intersection of DNA repair, chromatin remodeling, and anti-tumor immunity.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will engage in various laboratory activities essential to the research project and will be responsible for maintaining the efficient operation of the laboratory, working closely with the Principal Investigator and the research team.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree with relevant laboratory experience or a Master’s degree in Cancer Biology, Hematology, or a related field (or nearing completion) or a higher qualification. A solid grasp of Cancer Biology and Genetics is crucial, along with proficiency in molecular biology techniques, genetic editing, cloning, and in vitro cell-based experiments.

Demonstrable experience in laboratory management, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team are essential. Experience in aseptic tissue culture (including cancer cell lines and co-cultures), molecular biology techniques (such as protein analysis, RNA analysis, and flow cytometry), and imaging techniques (like immunofluorescence) is also required.

Familiarity with animal handling and setting up animal models (including procedures such as subcutaneous, intraperitoneal, and intravenous injections) would be advantageous.
