Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the Business Studies department, ensuring the delivery of a high-quality curriculum and raising standards of student attainment and achievement.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Operational and strategic planning, including the development of subject and faculty improvement plans, and the leadership of curriculum development and resource allocation.
  • Ensuring the delivery of a comprehensive and effective curriculum, and leading the development of teaching strategies and assessment methods.
  • Staff development, including the recruitment, management, and professional development of department staff.
  • Student outcomes, including the monitoring and evaluation of student progress, and the maintenance of accurate student data.
  • Pastoral care, including the provision of support and guidance to students.
  • Teaching and learning, including the delivery of high-quality teaching and the promotion of student achievement.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, with management training an advantage.
  • Experience of teaching GCSE Business Studies at a good or better level.
  • A track record of raising achievement in their current post, with evidence of good value added for students.
  • Knowledge of current curriculum developments in Business Studies and their implications.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and sustain professional relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects.
