About the Role
This full-time Dermatology Clinical Fellow position offers a unique opportunity to refine your clinical and research skills within a dynamic and supportive environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about dermatology and eager to pursue higher specialist training in this field.
Your Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive outpatient care for dermatology patients, encompassing the management of both acute and chronic conditions.
- Participate in minor skin surgery lists under the guidance of senior clinicians, gaining valuable experience in surgical techniques.
- Contribute to ongoing clinical research projects alongside our dedicated Dermatology research team. This involves supporting the execution of clinical trials and other studies within the department.
- Engage in continuous professional development through regional and national clinical meetings, fostering your growth and expertise.
Our Team and Environment
The Dermatology Department at Poole Hospital is a thriving hub led by five experienced consultants and a dedicated team of nurse specialists, specialty grade doctors, and an SpR. We pride ourselves on providing a strong clinical training environment where you will receive comprehensive support, mentorship, and guidance throughout your journey.
Essential Requirements
- MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
- Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council
- Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice.
- Evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competences in a relevant specialty at time of application and likelihood of achieving ST2/CT2 competences in a relevant specialty by the start date of the post (or equivalent experience).
- Clinical judgement: experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need.
- Practical skills: shows aptitude for practical skills and willing to learn basic skin surgery techniques
- Basic computer skills including use of Microsoft word and Outlook
- Enthusiasm for dermatology and a commitment to professional development
