Job Summary

We are seeking an Assistant Cost Manager to join our dynamic and award-winning Cost Management team in our Cambridge office. As a key member of our Real Estate team, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from feasibility studies to cost planning and procurement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in feasibility studies and write procurement reports
  • Estimate and cost plan, including producing and presenting the final cost plan
  • Tender and procure, including managing the pre-qualification stage and producing the tender report
  • Deal with post-contract cost variances and change control processes
  • Take personal responsibility for making cost checks and carrying out valuations on larger projects
  • Produce monthly post-contract cost reports and present them to the client
  • Contribute to value engineering
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts
  • Interface with clients and other consultants at all project stages

Requirements

  • Good technical grounding in cost management and contractor background
  • Experience of acting as Commission Manager on small to medium-sized projects
  • Knowledge of main procurement methods and their application
  • Understanding of value engineering
  • Experience of using industry-standard processes and systems
  • Professionally qualified (RICS or similar)
  • Degree or HNC level qualification
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
