Job Title: Head of Finance and Corporate Services

Join the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce team as we seek an experienced Head of Finance and Corporate Services to lead our financial and HR functions. As a key member of our senior management team, you will play a critical role in shaping the financial strategy and direction of the organization.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced finance professional to lead our finance and corporate services functions. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of financial management, strategic planning, and leadership. You will be responsible for providing financial guidance and support to the CEO, Executive team, Board, and Council, as well as ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the financial strategy to support the Chamber's overall goals and mission.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to inform business decisions and support the development of business strategies and business cases.
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and professional development.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, monthly management reports, and other financial reports as required.
  • Monitor financial risks and implement risk management strategies to ensure the financial stability of the Chamber.
  • Manage relationships with banks, auditors, vendors, and government agencies.
  • Support the CEO and Board with financial presentations and analysis.
  • Coordinate and liaise with external auditors to ensure year-end financial statements are signed off within 3 months of the year end.
  • Oversee cash flow, investments, and liquidity management to ensure the financial stability of the Chamber.
  • Handle all payroll, pension, and employee benefit matters.
  • Support the smooth onboarding of new employees, including collecting personal details for our records and conducting reference checks.
  • Manage the annual review and update of the staff handbook and HR policies with guidance from Quest, our external HR advisor.
  • Provide financial guidance and input for project and contract applications and offer ongoing financial support.
  • Work with our Head of Operations to ensure effective use of data, maximizing our CRM to support data-based decision making, and ensuring clear KPI reporting.
Requirements
  • Proven work experience as a Head of Finance or similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic financial planning, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Experience in management of year-end accounts/audit.
  • Proficiency in financial software, including Xero.
  • Professional certification such as ICAS, ACCA, ICAEW, or CIMA.
