About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Worker to join our Young Carers Team at Leicestershire County Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting young carers aged 11 plus who have a caring role for a family member.

Our team leads on Leicestershire County Council's offer of support to young carers and young adult carers. We are looking for an individual who can understand the impact felt by young carers and identify ways to support their needs as a young person as well as a young carer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work 1-2-1 with children and their families to provide support and guidance
  • Develop and deliver group work for children
  • Contribute to the protection of children from abuse in accordance with local and national safeguarding policies and procedures
  • Work collaboratively with other teams to ensure a comprehensive approach to supporting young carers

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Evidence of knowledge and experience of case management with children and families
  • Evidence of developing, planning, and implementing creative and innovative interventions tailored to meet the individual needs of children and young people
  • Demonstrable experience of understanding the issues faced by young carers and their families
  • Qualification level required - NVQ Level 3 or above and significant experience working with children and families
  • Experience of developing, delivering, and evaluating group programmes for children
  • Knowledge and experience of gathering child's voice and how children can participate and influence decision-making
