About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Sustainability Manager to join our team at Legal & General. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in shaping and driving our environmental initiatives and strategy across our London location project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be the primary point of contact for all environment/sustainability issues related to the London location project.
  • Manage the wider project team on all issues related to the environment/sustainability, including project managers, sustainability consultants, architects, landlords, and facilities management companies.
  • Provide expert advice to our team and associated partners on a wide range of environmental topics, such as sustainable procurement, energy/waste management, and biodiversity, to ensure that our team is equipped to meet our policy, procedure, and legal requirements.
  • Undertake ongoing monitoring of our Group and P&W commitments and targets, collate data, and develop reports to provide regular updates on the level of achievement.
  • Develop the understanding of employees across the Group with regards to environmental risks, opportunities, and commitments mainly associated with the London project through the development and management of appropriate communication tools.
  • Develop, shape, and deliver our environmental strategy across the L&G Group, with particular focus on P&W, to ensure that we meet our policy and legal compliance requirements as well as the environmental ambition of the board.
  • Monitor regulatory developments as they apply to the built environment, with an assessment of implications for the department and Group to ensure L&G complies with current and future regulation.
  • Work closely with M&E consultants to ensure adherence to net zero targets.
Requirements
  • Experience of leading and contributing to similar built environment projects with ambitious environmental targets and strategy.
  • Deep and clear understanding of the environmental impacts and opportunities linked to building fit-out and subsequent operations, such as material specifications and energy management options.
  • Practical experience delivering operational energy savings within existing buildings.
  • Ability to conduct data-driven environmental analysis, research, and management.
  • Knowledge and awareness of general environmental topics related to the built environment, sustainability reporting, and certification, landlord engagement, ISO14001 & ISO50001.
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation, regulation, certifications, and the wider sustainability agenda.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills are essential.
  • Ability to influence others.
