Position: Risk Management Analyst

Location: Office-based role

The primary objective of this position is to oversee and mitigate market risks and exposures for the global Prax Business divisions. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the various business units and their operations, as well as the ability to identify and monitor the different risks associated with each department.

This pivotal role supports the Global Head of Risk in London by managing and reporting risks within the trading sector. The incumbent will play a significant part in enhancing and developing risk measurement methodologies, processes, and protocols while maintaining close daily interactions with both front office and regional/global business units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with traders, commercial teams, and other trading departments to ensure that new business transactions and associated risks are accurately recorded in the Company's risk management system.
  • Reconcile, manage, and report positions, exposures, and profit & loss across all international business operations daily, addressing any discrepancies with relevant stakeholders.
  • Advance and refine trade management processes within the CTRM system as business needs evolve.
  • Partner with the Accounting team to support the reconciliation of Trading profit & loss with financial accounts.
  • Work alongside Business Analysts to continuously improve the functionality of the CTRM system.
  • Ensure the accuracy and daily updates of market prices, forward curves, and other critical valuation metrics.
  • Maintain a robust understanding of trading portfolios and stay informed about developments in the oil markets and other relevant sectors.
  • Conduct quantitative analyses of new deals and identify inherent risks using simulation-based modeling, scenario analysis, and other analytical methods.
  • Engage in ad hoc projects as necessary to support the Risk team and other business areas.

Qualifications

A degree in Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, or a related field is required.

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of Market Risk methodologies.
  • Strong technical skills, particularly in Excel and VBA.
  • Proactive and results-driven work ethic.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Prior experience as a Market Risk Analyst with familiarity in CRTM systems.
  • Demonstrable experience in market risk related to physical commodities (approximately 2 years) within an energy, oil company, utility, or trading firm.
  • Familiarity with the UK Downstream market is preferred.
