Position Overview

We are seeking a Principal Lead Designer to enhance our project team.

Location: Based out of our offices, with necessary travel to various sites.

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

As a Principal Lead Designer, you will collaborate with the Senior Digital Construction Manager and Building Services Leads to ensure seamless coordination of the design delivery process and internal responsibilities across all disciplines.

Your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical guidance for the designated Function (Healthcare/Public/Residential/Commercial). Ensure that best practices are applied throughout the Pre-Con/Design/Delivery/Aftercare stages for your assigned projects.
  • Establishing the Function under your leadership as a center of excellence through in-house training, Continuous Development Programs, and individual staff development plans. Conduct Fire, Quality, and Design startup meetings to thoroughly review the design and delivery process, identifying all risks and opportunities.
  • Reporting directly to the Technical Assurance Director while collaborating with the relevant Sector Lead/Region Director to manage the design and quality of a portfolio of projects within your specialization.
  • Line managing SDM/DM/ADMs as necessary, directly on tenders and indirectly on live projects in conjunction with the project management team. Acting as a career manager and mentor for your teams in your specialization and with other Function Leads for overall development.
  • Regularly liaising with the Technical Assurance Director and Sector Lead/Region Director, visiting site teams to ensure compliance with obligations and reviewing the design program and processes to guarantee satisfactory project performance.

Qualifications and Skills

This role is ideal for candidates who possess:

  • Experience conducting site audits.
  • Experience performing VLT reviews of projects under your oversight.
  • Demonstrable experience in a design role within a major contractor environment.
  • Experience with BIM level 2 projects, including COBie data and LoDM.
  • A valid UK Driving License.
