Job Title: Deputy Ward Manager/Charge Nurse

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Deputy Ward Manager/Charge Nurse to join our team at a specialist mental health hospital in Cheadle, Greater Manchester.

About the Role:

As a Deputy Ward Manager/Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, their families, and visitors. You will work closely with the ward team to apply relevant policies and statutory requirements, and communicate these to the wider team.

You will be responsible for assessing and managing risk across the ward and hospital, and ensuring that statutory requirements are met. You will also be responsible for promoting and role modeling equality and diversity across the team.

The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering and receiving supervision, and excellent leadership skills. You will be able to assess and prioritize clinical situations, and manage effective communication between medical and nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Works as Senior Nurse in a Ward or equivalent area ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, their families and visitors
  • Applies relevant policies and statutory requirements within the ward and hospital framework of governance and communicates requirements to the wider team
  • Ensures that risk is assessed and managed across the immediate and wider working environment and that statutory requirements are met
  • Respects and applies the requirements of equality and diversity, promoting and role modelling these across the team
  • Identifies deficits in skill mix and safe staffing levels and acts to address these
Requirements:
  • Qualified as a Registered Nurse (RMN or RNLD Nurse) with a current active NMC Pin
  • Experience in Mental Health or Learning Disability services
  • At least 3 years, or equivalent experience post-registration
