We are seeking a highly skilled Learning and Development Specialist to join our team at the Met Office. As a Learning and Development Specialist, you will play a key role in enabling our customers to learn and develop their expertise in weather and climate science and services.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and apply a broad knowledge of Met Office strategies, plans, and performance needs, in line with our People Development Plan.
- Design and deliver inclusive learning and development interventions, utilizing a wide range of methods, including face-to-face, virtual, and hybrid learning events, and through recorded video, audio, curated content, and blended self-directed learning tools.
- Drive continuous improvement and assure the quality of our work, including collaboration and the adoption of new practices or tools, and through lessons identified via our evaluation process.
- Ensure alignment of learning to our People Development plan and People Framework.
- Maintain currency and grow expertise in L&D practice, ensuring learning interventions and assessments incorporate emerging evidence-based practice and industry best practice.
- You are an Expert By Nature with a depth and breadth of experience in operational meteorology, allowing you to maintain credibility in the design and delivery of impactful training.

- An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 27%
- Recruitment Retention Allowance (RRA): you will be paid £1,250 per annum as a market supplement to reflect the demand for your skills.
- Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave.
