About the Role

We are seeking an experienced pharmacist to join our team as a Clinical Trials Pharmacist. The successful candidate will have a hospital background and experience in clinical trials. The role will involve working with the R&D department and clinical research teams to ensure the smooth running of the trials service.

Main Responsibilities
  • Oversight of the clinical trials department in the pharmacy, ensuring SOPs are reviewed regularly and up to date.
  • Staff training and development, ensuring staff are appropriately trained and competent in their roles.
  • Storage and supply of investigational drugs, ensuring compliance with UK law and regulations.
  • Appropriate governance and risk procedures for all investigational drugs used in clinical trials.
  • Attending departmental business meetings and being an active research advocate to the department.
  • Line managing a small number of pharmacy technicians.

Person Specification
  • Registered as a pharmacist with the GPhC.
  • Master of pharmacy (or equivalent) degree.
  • Postgraduate diploma in pharmacy practice or similar subject.
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training.
  • Independent prescribing.
Experience
  • Knowledge of legislation and guidance relevant to clinical trials.
  • Experience of managing a service and/or line management.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Methodical, able to prioritise own work and that of others.
  • Ability to problem solve and to appropriately escalate concerns.
  • Good personal organisation and time management skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and to manage self and motivate others.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to switch between tasks as priorities change.
  • Demonstrates a professional attitude and is able to demonstrate adaptability and innovation in work practice.
