Position: Field Service Technician

Region: London and Southeast area

We are seeking a Field Service Technician to join our Surgical Workplaces service team.

Getinge is a reputable Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), committed to saving lives through the production and maintenance of a variety of medical devices and solutions. Our Service Team plays a crucial role in our operations, responsible for the routine maintenance, testing, and repair of our equipment in healthcare facilities across the UK and Ireland.

In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise to ensure the optimal functioning of our machines in the field, representing our organization and fostering relationships with clients and colleagues to deliver outstanding service.

This position is field-based, requiring a self-motivated individual capable of managing their own responsibilities. While you will primarily work independently, you will receive ongoing support through regular communication with the Service Office, Service Managers, and our Technical Services Department, which has direct access to Getinge manufacturing sites and extensive technical knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with clients, demonstrating exceptional interpersonal skills in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Conduct routine testing of Getinge equipment to established standards and perform mechanical servicing.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills, combining initiative with a practical and logical approach to all job aspects.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical fault diagnosis on equipment.
  • Calibrate equipment as necessary, reporting any faulty or out-of-calibration equipment to the Line Manager.
  • Maintain adequate stock levels of spare parts to ensure timely responses to service calls.
  • Generate quality service documentation for customer submission.
  • Maintain regular communication with the internal Service Department, Technical Department, and Service Managers.
  • Adhere to proper returns and non-conformance reporting procedures at all times.
  • Organize and prioritize a dynamic workload, ensuring prompt responses to customer inquiries.
  • Provide out-of-hours standby support on a rotational basis to meet customer needs.
  • Produce accurate and timely written/electronic reports as required.
  • Deliver Validation reports within specified timeframes.
  • Assist team members as needed.
  • Provide sales leads to relevant Service/Sales Managers.
  • Comply with Quality System duties and responsibilities consistently.
  • Observe and adhere to company and on-site Health & Safety regulations at all times.

Required Qualifications:

  • A recognized qualification in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering (such as City & Guilds Levels 1 & 2 or an equivalent qualification).
  • Experience in field-based roles.
  • Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office; familiarity with CRM systems such as GForce.
  • Strong work ethic and excellent organizational skills.
  • Positive attitude towards teamwork and the ability to work independently, with a willingness to travel as needed.
  • Flexibility and the capacity to adapt under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding communication skills and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to clients.
