Position Overview

Opportunity Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Building Surveyor to contribute to our projects across various sectors. This role involves delivering exceptional surveying services to a diverse clientele, ensuring high standards of quality and compliance throughout the process.

As a senior professional, you will oversee building surveying assignments, which encompass property assessments, dilapidation consultations, party wall matters, and management of construction initiatives for new developments, refurbishments, and ongoing maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with business unit leaders to achieve strategic goals
  • Engaging effectively with clients to foster and sustain professional relationships
  • Ensuring the delivery of superior services that align with client expectations
  • Overseeing projects to guarantee adherence to quality standards and operational protocols
  • Managing building surveying tasks, including property evaluations, dilapidation assessments, party wall advice, and construction management from inception to completion
  • Conducting quality assurance for construction initiatives
  • Coordinating service delivery with the Director, maintaining overall project accountability
  • Selecting appropriate sub-consultants in agreement with the director and client, following established procedures
  • Providing sound professional guidance to clients and project teams
  • Ensuring all financial and quantitative data is verified prior to dissemination
  • Operating within the scope of your role while seeking approval for additional responsibilities
  • Preparing and delivering presentations to clients
  • Mentoring junior staff to maximize their potential
  • Developing proposals for service offerings
  • Managing service delivery to achieve profitability
  • Promptly informing directors of any project-related issues that may affect professional indemnity
  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities to drive growth

Candidate Profile

Required Experience and Skills

  • Extensive building surveying experience post-MRICS qualification
  • In-depth knowledge and practical experience in delivering building surveying services
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction methodologies and materials
  • Strong grasp of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract management
  • Proficiency in administering construction contracts as both Contracts Administrator and Employer's Agent
  • Clear understanding of relevant legislation affecting building contracts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational abilities with adaptability to changing circumstances
  • Proven problem-solving, negotiation, financial management, and numeracy skills
  • Capability to assimilate complex information and evaluate requirements effectively
  • Proficient ICT skills, particularly in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work collaboratively and lead teams effectively

  • MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors)
