Overview of the Opportunity

We are excited to present a unique opportunity for a seasoned Building Surveyor to take on a pivotal role within our organization. This position is tailored for professionals who are eager to advance their careers while delivering exceptional project work to a diverse array of clients in both the public and private sectors across the North of England.

As a senior professional, you will be responsible for overseeing building surveying assignments, which encompass surveys, dilapidation assessments, party wall consultations, and construction projects related to new developments, renovations, and maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with business unit directors to achieve strategic objectives
  • Engaging positively with clients and fostering, developing, and sustaining client relationships
  • Ensuring the delivery of high-quality services that meet client expectations
  • Managing projects to ensure compliance with business protocols while delivering superior services
  • Overseeing building surveying assignments, including surveys, dilapidation assessments, party wall consultations, and construction projects from initial feasibility to design, contract management, and post-completion evaluations
  • Conducting quality assessments of construction projects
  • Planning service delivery in collaboration with the Director, who holds overall project responsibility
  • Selecting appropriate sub-consultants in agreement with the director and client, adhering to established procedures for their appointment
  • Providing sound professional advice to clients and project team members
  • Ensuring all quantitative and financial data is verified prior to dissemination, maintaining records of independent checks
  • Operating within the scope of your role and executing additional responsibilities with the approval of your line manager
  • Preparing and delivering presentations to clients
  • Mentoring and guiding team members to reach their full potential
  • Developing service proposals
  • Managing service delivery to ensure profitability
  • Promptly informing directors of any project-related issues that may arise, particularly those affecting professional indemnity insurance
  • Identifying new business opportunities and driving growth within the Business Unit

About You

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Substantial Building Surveying experience post-MRICS qualification
  • Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience in executing building surveying tasks
  • In-depth understanding of construction methods and materials
  • Thorough grasp of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract methodologies
  • Proficiency in administering construction contracts as a Contracts Administrator and Employers Agent
  • Clear understanding of legislation affecting building contracts
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent organizational abilities and adaptability to change
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation, financial, and numerical management skills
  • Capability to assimilate complex information and assess requirements efficiently
  • Proficient ICT skills, particularly in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and take on leadership roles.

  • MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors)
