Pastoral Manager Job Description

TeacherActive is seeking a skilled Pastoral Manager to join our team of professionals working in schools and educational institutions. As a Pastoral Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting the welfare and behaviour of students, ensuring they receive the best possible education and achieve their full potential.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day provision of a robust and supportive pastoral system, addressing student welfare and behaviour issues.
  • Take a lead role in addressing the needs of students who require additional support, particularly those with SEMH needs.
  • Develop strategies to identify early signs of disengagement and contribute to re-engagement interventions.
  • Assist in ensuring high levels of student attendance, punctuality, and behaviour.
  • Liaise with parents, learning support, school counsellors, and other staff and agencies to provide students with necessary support and guidance.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
  • GCSE grade C or above or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Experience working with young people, particularly those with SEMH needs.
  • Ability to motivate and enthuse young people, establish professional relationships, and work as part of a team.
  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with adults, parents, and external agencies.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment.
