Position Overview

This role presents a unique opportunity for individuals who are dedicated to the transformative potential of peer support and its significant influence on individuals facing mental health difficulties.

As a member of a dynamic, encouraging, and collaborative team, this position not only allows for the effective delivery of peer support to a growing number of clients but also contributes to the evolution of peer support practices within Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.

The pivotal position of Lead Peer Support Facilitator has been specifically designed for individuals with personal experience of recovery from mental health issues, who have also applied these experiences in professional peer support roles within mental health environments.

We seek individuals who embody positivity, empathy, and supportiveness, and who are prepared to propose innovative solutions and see them through to fruition. While training will be provided in essential areas, we primarily value candidates who align with our core principles, placing service users at the heart of our mission to integrate effective peer support across all services.

Key Responsibilities

1. Deliver consistent and comprehensive individual and group supervision for Peer Support Facilitators, fostering reflective practice.

2. Clarify the Peer Support Facilitator role at the service level by offering both written and verbal guidance in a collaborative manner.

3. Assist in coordinating relevant training, learning, and development initiatives for Peer Support Facilitators.

4. Engage in service team development activities to enhance awareness and understanding of the Peer Support Facilitator role prior to and following onboarding.

5. Contribute to the recruitment process for Peer Support Facilitators, including participation in interview panels.

6. Aid in the design and delivery of comprehensive induction programs for new Peer Support Facilitators.

7. Act as 'Peer Support Champions' advocating for the benefits of Peer Support Facilitator roles within the Trust.

8. Support the creation of guidelines across the Trust for the effective implementation of Peer Support Facilitator roles, particularly for new hires and service teams developing these roles.

9. Provide detailed information and guidance to candidates navigating the Peer Support Facilitator application process, including timelines and key steps.

10. Collaborate with the Peer Support Facilitator Programme Manager and other senior facilitators to co-create Trust-wide peer support documentation and initiatives aimed at improvement.

Position Requirements

The Lead Peer Support Facilitator role is tailored for individuals with personal experience of recovery from mental health challenges and a history of applying these experiences in professional peer support capacities.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing a comprehensive support pathway for Peer Support Facilitators, providing high-quality individual and group supervision.

They will also contribute to the establishment and enhancement of effective systems for the development and introduction of Peer Support Facilitator roles across the Trust.

This position is integral to embedding recovery-oriented values within the service environments in which they operate.
