We are seeking a Lead Pharmacy Technician to join our Operational Services team, specifically focusing on Theatres and related departments. This position is classified as Band 5.
This role is ideal for a registered Pharmacy Technician with substantial experience in Hospital Pharmacy who is eager to take on additional responsibilities within the Dispensary environment. The successful candidate will serve as a vital link between Theatres and associated areas.
Your responsibilities will include ensuring the prompt supply of medications and addressing any stock shortages. A thorough understanding of Controlled Drugs regulations is essential, as this position involves the removal of expired and unwanted Controlled Drugs from Theatre locations. This opportunity will also allow you to enhance your leadership skills by supervising Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants.
Applicants must possess the NVQ Pharmacy Services Level 3 qualification (or equivalent), a BTEC or similar certification, and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Main Duties of the Role- Dispensing outpatient, inpatient, and discharge prescriptions in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Processing Controlled Drug requisitions
- Maintaining the Patient Medication Record (PMR) on the pharmacy dispensing system
- Promptly managing stock items 'to-follows' for Theatres and associated areas
- Addressing stock shortages in Theatres and associated areas with appropriate alternatives
- Participating in Medicines Storage Audits for Theatres and associated areas
- Attending various departmental meetings, including Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions
- Ensuring compliance with Trust and Departmental policies and procedures for safe and efficient operations
- Assisting in the training and supervision of other staff members
