About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Great Ormond Street Hospital as a Team Leader for our Distribution Service. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your leadership skills and contribute to the provision of high-quality pharmacy services to our patients.

Main Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Manage and supervise a team of Pharmacy Technicians to ensure the smooth operation of the Distribution Service.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the service.
  • Service Development
    • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for Topping Up, Automated Dispensing Robot, and Intelligent Storage Systems.
    • Design and deliver training programs for staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
  • Quality and Safety
    • Ensure that all aspects of the Distribution Service are compliant with regulatory requirements and hospital policies.
    • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to stock control and system errors.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Work closely with the ward pharmacist and lead nurse to ensure the effective installation and maintenance of Intelligent Storage Systems on wards and departments.
    • Provide support and guidance to staff to ensure that they are able to perform their roles effectively.
Requirements
  • Qualifications
    • BTEC and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent qualification supported by Pharmacy work.
    • GPhC registered Pharmacy Technician.
  • Experience
    • Relevant Hospital pharmacy experience as a qualified Technician.
    • Dispensing and Distribution stock control systems.
    • Multidisciplinary Team Working.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Good oral and written communication skills.
    • Good organisational and prioritisation skills.
    • Problem and decision making skills.
