Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Manager to lead our team in identifying and mitigating health and safety risks across the Council. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective health and safety strategies to ensure a safe working environment for our employees and the public.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Health and Safety professionals to identify and assess health and safety risks across the Council.
  • Develop and implement effective health and safety strategies to mitigate risks and prevent accidents.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure health and safety policies and procedures are aligned with Council objectives.
  • Provide health and safety services to Tees Active, the company that operates the Borough's leisure centers, schools, and academies.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant health and safety legislation and regulations, and ensure the Council is compliant.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in health and safety management, preferably in a local government or similar environment.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to analyze complex health and safety data and develop effective strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and regulations, including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.

  • A competitive salary of up to £47,420.
  • 27 days annual leave per year rising to 32 with 5 years service (plus bank holidays). Ability to purchase additional leave is also available.
