The Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) division at Amazon plays a crucial role in our operational success – they are the backbone ensuring essential machinery operates smoothly.

As an RME Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining a diverse array of equipment and work environments while adhering to Health and Safety standards. Your efforts will contribute to the safety of your colleagues and the reduction of machine downtime. Our RME Technicians enhance the availability and quality of our machinery and strive to improve the operational atmosphere as well.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct proactive and preventative maintenance on various site equipment
  • Perform reactive repairs and troubleshoot issues in a live distribution center
  • Utilize advanced tools to optimize equipment performance
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
  • Assist in the training and development of onsite apprentices
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practices across multiple EU locations
A Day in the Life
As an RME Technician, you will be stationed on-site, allowing for rapid response to any machinery challenges. You will carry out a variety of planned preventative maintenance tasks to ensure equipment operates safely. Additionally, you will promptly address breakdowns, diagnosing issues and implementing solutions efficiently. Suggestions for long-term enhancements will also be welcomed.


Working alongside experienced colleagues, you will handle daily maintenance tasks such as plumbing and painting, and coordinate with contractors when specialized expertise is required.

Your work schedule will include various shifts to ensure our operations are supported around the clock, enabling Amazon to maintain its renowned delivery speed.

About the Team
Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering team is dedicated to keeping our equipment functioning at peak performance. We are a technically skilled group, composed of excellent collaborators and led by knowledgeable supervisors. Together, we maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment across our extensive network of fulfillment centers.

Some team members take on leadership roles, guiding the team as they work with innovative technology – some of which is unique to Amazon.


From the installation of automated packaging systems to overseeing general site maintenance and repairing critical distribution equipment, our team manages most technical aspects of Amazon's operations.

This includes ensuring that facilities comply with legal standards, maintaining safety for all, and optimizing site efficiency. There are numerous opportunities for career advancement, both within the RME team and throughout Amazon.

Our focus is on minimizing downtime in Amazon's essential operations, ensuring timely delivery of customer orders. We often work during early or late hours to perform maintenance with minimal disruption, including night shifts.

If we identify a more efficient method, we possess the skills and opportunity to develop and implement entirely new processes or cutting-edge technologies like Amazon Robotics and our Complex Item Sorter.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Completion of a full Engineering apprenticeship and/or a minimum qualification of NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline (City & Guilds Level 3, SVQ/IVQ)

  • Relevant experience as a qualified engineer
  • Experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance
  • Advanced proficiency in the local language, both verbally and in writing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Apprentice Trained, HNC, HND, BSc, BEng

  • Experience in condition-based monitoring
  • Familiarity with print and apply machines
  • Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining conveyor or automation systems
