Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct proactive and preventative maintenance tasks on various site equipment.
  • Perform reactive repairs and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse environment.
  • Utilize the latest tools to maximize equipment effectiveness.
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies and practices.
  • Assist in the development and progression of onsite apprentices.
  • Engage in continuous improvement projects and implement best practices across multiple EU sites.
A Day in the Life
As an RME Technician, you will be stationed on-site, allowing for quick responses to any machinery issues. You will carry out a variety of planned preventative maintenance tasks to ensure equipment operates safely. Additionally, you will respond promptly to breakdowns, investigating and implementing solutions as swiftly as possible. Suggestions for long-term improvements will also be welcomed.


Working alongside senior colleagues, you will undertake daily maintenance tasks such as painting and plumbing, and liaise with contractors when external expertise is required.

Your work schedule will include various shifts to ensure our sites are supported around the clock, enabling Amazon to deliver at the speed we are known for.

About the Team
Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering team is dedicated to keeping our equipment performing at its best. We are a technically skilled group, composed of excellent team players and guided by experienced leaders. Together, we maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment across our global network of fulfillment centers.

Some team members take on leadership roles, overseeing projects involving exciting technology—some of which is unique to Amazon.


From installing automated packaging systems to managing general site maintenance and repairing key distribution equipment, our team addresses most aspects of Amazon's technical operations.

This includes ensuring buildings remain legally compliant, guaranteeing safety for all, and maintaining maximum operational efficiency. There are numerous opportunities for career advancement, both within the RME team and across Amazon.

Our focus is on minimizing downtime in Amazon's essential operations, ensuring customers receive their orders on time. We often work during early or late hours to perform maintenance with minimal disruption, including night shifts.

If we identify a more efficient method for any task, we possess the skills and opportunity to develop and implement innovative processes or cutting-edge technologies such as Amazon Robotics and our Complex Item Sorter.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- Completion of a full Engineering indentured apprenticeship and/or qualification to a minimum of NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline (City & Guilds Level 3, SVQ/IVQ)

  • Relevant experience as a qualified engineer.
  • Experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance.
  • Advanced proficiency in the local language, both verbally and in writing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Apprentice trained, HNC, HND, BSc, BEng

  • Experience in condition-based monitoring.
  • Experience with print and apply machines.
  • Experience in fault-finding and maintaining conveyor or automation systems.
