About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Specialist to join our team at University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust. As a General Paediatric Consultant, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and leading a team of healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the on-call rota, providing 24/7 coverage for patients
  • Take on-going responsibility for patients under your care, ensuring their needs are met and their care is coordinated
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues in other specialties, ensuring seamless care for patients
  • Develop and maintain good communications with General Practitioners and other external stakeholders
  • Contribute to Clinical Governance, Risk Management, and Clinical Audit, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest clinical developments and best practices, participating in Continuing Professional Development
  • Take responsibility for improving and complying with infection control practices, ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff
  • Contribute to the development of the service, working collaboratively with the Clinical Director and other stakeholders
Requirements
  • MRCPCH or equivalent higher qualification
  • Fully registered with the GMC
  • APLS, EPALS, or PALS provider
  • MBChB/MBBS or equivalent
  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining entry on the GMC Specialist Register
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Further Higher Degree, MD, PhD
  • Level 3 safeguarding training
  • SPIN accreditation or equivalent for area of sub-speciality
  • Formal management training
  • Evidence of managerial experience
  • Leadership qualification

Working Arrangements

This is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week. You will be required to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the service.

You will be based at Staffordshire Children's Hospital, part of the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. The hospital is a major centre for paediatric care, with a range of specialist services and facilities.
