Civil Design Engineer

Carrington West are working with an international engineering consultancy to find a Senior Civil Engineer for a contract basis in the Defence industry.
The Senior Civil Engineer will work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, supporting operations and future programs at client sites. The role involves working alongside other engineers of all disciplines to author, develop, assess, and maintain engineering design substantiation for a defence organization's nuclear facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Author and manage design substantiation documents
- Oversee civil design changes and concessions
- Present safety cases to committees
- Develop EIMT schedules and safety reviews
- Provide technical advice and conduct independent reviews
- Apply engineering knowledge in high-risk environments
- Justify civil/structural design modifications
- 5+ years of experience in design assessment for RC and steel structures, including dynamic loads, such as earthquakes, blasts and wind.
- Experience with RC and steelwork marine structures and jetties.
- Skilled in applying theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, and manage engineering processes in nuclear/high-risk environments.
- Strong foundation in general and specialist engineering knowledge, utilizing both existing and emerging technologies.
- Experience in defence or a similar nuclear environment favourable
- Familiarity with safety case development techniques, such as HAZID/HAZOP
