About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Podiatrist to join our multidisciplinary team at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will work independently at an advanced level, providing exceptional care to patients with complex foot conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work in a variety of settings, including community clinics, hospitals, and patients' homes, providing advanced assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and evaluation of podiatric care.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans for patients with high-risk diabetes, chronic neuropathy, rheumatoid arthritis, vascular problems, and wound management/tissue viability.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including consultants, to ensure seamless care and effective communication with patients, relatives, and carers.
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior staff members, including Assistant Practitioners, Apprentice Podiatrists, and Podiatrists.
  • Participate in the development of prescribing within the department and ensure effective communication of complex disease processes/foot health issues with patients and colleagues.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental protocols, quality improvement initiatives, and education programs for patients, relatives, and carers.
Requirements
  • Education/Qualifications:
    • HCPC registered podiatrist
    • Podiatry diploma/degree
    • Local anaesthetics certificate
    • Evidence of continuing professional development in relevant area
    • An MSc in relevant field or willingness to work towards one
    • Independent Prescribing qualification or willingness to work towards one
  • Experience:
    • Experience of working and liaising in an MDT environment
    • Broad-based experience working in isolation and as a team member, including the treatment and management of very high-risk patients on a regular basis
    • Experience of managing staff
    • Evidence-based approach to wound management
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Excellent advanced clinical skills, utilising evidence-based practice
    • Good time management and organisational skills
    • Team Leadership and management
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Ability to interpret diagnostic imaging (x-ray)
    • Ability to interpret relevant blood results
  • Knowledge & Understanding:
    • Demonstrates understanding of safeguarding issues
    • Is up to date with legislation and current events
    • Accepts responsibility for own work and can define the responsibilities of others
