About the Role

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the management of subcontract packages on airfield projects, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and cost control. This role requires strong commercial acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work closely with the Commercial Manager, engineers, and surveyors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage subcontracted and self-delivery packages, including forecasting day work labor and plant.
  • Advise managers on procurement options and negotiate contracts with subcontractors.
  • Balance quality services with achieving the best value for the business.
  • Focus on cost control and budgeting procedures in line with the business financial systems.
  • Liaise with procurement and accounts teams to ensure compliance with financial parameters.
  • Produce and monitor Applications/Final Accounts and check agreed subcontract Applications/Accounts.
  • Manage change and contract procedures with subcontractors and clients.
  • Coach and advise Assistant Quantity Surveyors to develop their skill set.
  • Promote company values and monitor staff capability and performance.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related qualification.
  • Quantity Surveying experience in managing subcontracted and self-delivery packages in civil engineering and/or utilities.
  • Working knowledge of NEC forms of contract and amendments.
  • Knowledge of contract structure and law, procurement, estimation, and programme management.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation.
