About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team at Little Angels nursery, part of the MiChild Group. As a Deputy Manager, you will play a vital role in the daily operations of the nursery, supporting the Manager and team to ensure the highest standards of care and education for our children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with the Manager on a daily basis to provide support and guidance to the team.
  • Work collaboratively with the nursery team to ensure the smooth running of the nursery.
  • Make decisions on the day-to-day running of the nursery in the absence of the Manager.
  • Follow all administrative procedures and ensure compliance with Ofsted requirements.
  • Be a positive role model for other staff and provide training and support as needed.
  • Attend meetings as part of the management team and contribute to decision-making.
  • Be flexible with shifts and work collaboratively to ensure all shifts are covered.
  • Conduct fire checks, read meters, and perform risk assessments to ensure a safe environment.
  • Monitor safeguarding issues and ensure compliance with local authority procedures.
  • Prepare the nursery for Ofsted inspections and implement recommendations to achieve a minimum good grade.
Requirements
  • Level 3 qualification in childcare or a related field.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and experience working with children and families.
  • Extensive knowledge of safeguarding and experience working in partnership with parents and outside agencies.
  • Previous experience as a room supervisor or deputy manager in a nursery environment.
  • Childcare experience of at least 2 years (preferably).
