About the Deputy Manager Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team at the MiChild Group. As a Deputy Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting the nursery manager and team in delivering high-quality care and education to our children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with the nursery manager on a daily basis and provide daily support for them and the team.
  • Work as part of the nursery team to ensure the smooth operation of the setting.
  • Make decisions on the day-to-day running of the nursery in the absence of a Manager.
  • Follow all the nursery's administrative procedures.
  • Be a positive role model to other staff throughout the nursery.
  • Have a thorough working knowledge of the nursery's policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the training of staff within the nursery.
  • Manage staffing levels and deploy staff where necessary throughout the setting in the absence of a Manager.
  • Attend meetings as part of the management team.
  • Be flexible with shifts and staying behind to ensure all shifts are covered in the event of staff sickness.
  • Conduct fire checks, read meters, and complete risk assessments and housekeeping tasks.
  • Ensure the nursery consistently meets the requirements set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage to a minimum good standard.
  • Monitor any safeguarding issues following local authority procedures.
  • Prepare the nursery for Ofsted inspections and action any recommendations made by the inspector to ensure a minimum good grade is awarded.

Requirements:

  • Must be Level 3 qualified.
  • Have a detailed understanding of the requirements set by Ofsted.
  • Excellent knowledge of the EYFS and experience of working with children and families.
  • Extensive knowledge of Safeguarding.
  • Experience of working in partnership with parents and outside agencies.
  • Managing and maintaining administration requirements.
  • Previous room supervisor or deputy manager experience working in a nursery environment.
  • Enthusiasm, professionalism, and creativity.

Experience:

  • Childcare: 2 years (preferred).

Salary:

£27,500 per year (negotiable depending on experience).
