Job Title: Sports Coach/Behavioral Specialist

Job Type: Full-time, Temporary to Permanent

Location: Birmingham

Job Description:

GSL Education is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sports Coach/Behavioral Specialist to work at an mainstream primary provision in Birmingham. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sports coaching and experience working with children with additional learning requirements and challenging behavior.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 behavior interventions for pupils who have challenging behavior and mental health difficulties.
  • General group support and using sports as an enrichment activity.
  • Support the class teacher with daily tasks and planning.
  • Take small groups of children out of the classroom to use sports as a learning method.
  • Encourage learning and concentration in lessons.
  • Lead sports classes indoors and outdoors.
  • Identify triggers of specific behaviors.
  • Use sports as a method of de-escalating situations.
  • Act as a positive role model, energetic and always willing to support.
  • Teach classes during PPA cover.
  • Ensure you are following the sports curriculum.

Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS child and adult check – must be on the update service.
  • 2x references are a must in order to clear your file with GSL.
