About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst Team Lead to join our Strategic Insight Unit (SIU). As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in delivering research projects that inform Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) decision-making and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Met's Principal Criminologist, Head of the SIU, and analytics team to deliver research projects.
  • Construct analysis-compatible datasets, automate and improve existing data practices, and employ various data science techniques to produce high-quality, robust analysis.
  • Translate the results of your analysis into meaningful insights that inform MPS decision-making and practices.
  • Manage projects from inception to production of finalized outputs, including resource management and stakeholder engagement.
Requirements
  • Hold a minimum of a degree-level qualification in a quantitative subject or relevant field with a substantial component of quantitative analysis.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience or academic experience.
  • Possess advanced data wrangling skills and proficiency in SQL, R, or Python, with expertise in dataset building, data cleaning, and automation of data processing.
  • Have an excellent sense of data visualization and be able to implement key data science techniques and run simple machine learning models.
  • Be able to translate analytical needs into concrete research questions and feasible research plans.
  • Ensure effective working relationships with direct reports, supporting project progress and facilitating professional development and wellbeing.
