Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties:

  • Provide exceptional holistic care to patients, ensuring their dignity and equality are upheld at all times.
  • Encourage patients to embrace health promotion strategies that foster healthy living and self-care principles.
  • Utilize opportunities, such as new patient assessments, to deliver proactive health promotion.
  • Assist senior practitioners during minor surgical procedures.
  • Perform various clinical tasks, including:
    • Simple dressings
    • Wound swabs
    • Doppler assessments
    • Influenza vaccinations
    • Blood pressure monitoring
    • Phlebotomy
    • Electrocardiograms (ECGs)
    • Chaperoning patients to ensure their dignity while supporting clinicians
    • Process specimens for laboratory analysis
    • Maintain cleanliness in treatment rooms and monitor supplies
    • Monthly checks of resuscitation, oxygen, and suction equipment
    • Provide basic life support and assist team members as needed
    • Any additional clinical duties as required by the practice when competent

Communication:

  • Effectively communicate within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Utilize sensitive communication styles to ensure patients are well-informed and consent to treatment.
  • Support patients receiving difficult news with compassion.
  • Adapt communication methods to meet the diverse needs of patients and their families.
  • Act as an advocate for patients and colleagues.

Team Collaboration:

  • Understand and apply legal policies to identify vulnerable individuals, adhering to local guidance.
  • Work effectively within policies regarding domestic violence and substance abuse.
  • Support team members and explore innovative ways to enhance patient care.

Quality Assurance:

Maintain accurate and complete records of patient consultations in line with relevant legislation and policies. Prioritize and manage workload to ensure high-quality care delivery.

Risk Management:

Assess and manage risks within the practice, ensuring a safe environment for both staff and patients. Adhere to infection control measures and participate in mandatory training.

Personal Development:

Engage in ongoing training and development opportunities, taking responsibility for personal growth and sharing knowledge with colleagues.
