Backend Game Developer Opportunity at Freejam Games

We are seeking an experienced Backend Game Developer to join our team at Freejam Games, creators of the popular multiplayer game Robocraft. As a key member of our development team, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining the core backend systems and technologies that power our games.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop robust backend systems and features for our games, working closely with our programming team.
  • Improve the architecture of our system, ensuring scalability, security, and high-performance.
  • Collaborate with our team to create accurate task duration estimates and complete work on a timely basis to a consistent, high-quality standard.
  • Contribute to the documentation and automated testing procedures, ensuring our systems are well-documented and reliable.
  • Implement protective measures against threats and ensure adherence to data protection laws.
  • Refine the performance of our online services, focusing on server efficiency and user load management.
Requirements
  • Significant experience developing back-end systems for games or similar environments, including prior experience in leadership capacities.
  • Proven experience in commercial environments developing high-scalability online services, emphasizing handling large user bases.
  • Involved in full production of at least 2 titles/projects.
  • Strong C# programming skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of cloud services like AWS and OVH, as well as orchestration technologies like Kubernetes and Agones.
  • Experience with matchmaking systems, client-server methodologies, and technologies like Open Match and SignalR.
  • Good knowledge of scalability, security, and readable code practices.
  • Proficient with Source Control and Code Review tools like Perforce and Git.
Bonus Points
  • Experience with OpenAPI and code generation tools.
  • Video game-specific experience.
  • Knowledge of Unity for game development.
  • Knowledge of Sentry, Grafana, Portainer, and Multiplay Clanforge.
