About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Clinical Psychologist Trainee to join our friendly and multi-disciplinary LD CAMHS team. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the assessment and treatment of children and young people with moderate to severe learning disabilities who are experiencing mental health needs and/or displaying significant behavioural distress.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their skills and expertise in a supportive environment, working closely with a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and an Assistant Psychologist. You will be responsible for providing evidence-based psychological therapies, contributing to initial assessment clinics, and working with families and wider professional networks.

We are committed to investing in our Psychology staff, offering a dedicated CPD budget to support your professional growth. Our team has good links with local Doctoral Psychology courses at the Universities of Birmingham, providing opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Main Responsibilities
  • Contribute to initial assessment clinics and provide evidence-based psychological therapies
  • Work with families and wider professional networks to support children and young people with learning disabilities
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
  • Supervise the clinical work of assistant psychologists, trainees, and other professionals

Person Specification
  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology (or its equivalent) as accredited by the BPS
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
