Job Title: International News Desk Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced International News Desk Coordinator to join our team at NBCUniversal. As a key member of our international news operation, you will play a critical role in coordinating and supporting teams in the field and in the newsroom as they produce content for our key platforms, including TODAY, Nightly News, MSNBC, and NBC News Digital.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate resources and communicate with the senior desk editor, field teams, show producers, and editing producers to ensure seamless execution of live shots and pre-tapes.
  • Work with the live request coordinator to assign and manage live requests for various NBC News platforms and partners.
  • Coordinate with SatOps, MCR, and field teams on live shots, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of content.
  • Update the network, editors, and field teams with breaking news updates and compelling video, maintaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Compile accurate staffing logs, editorial updates, and output records, providing valuable insights to the team.
  • Handle and book live transmissions or tape windows with third-party vendors, ensuring smooth execution and minimal downtime.
  • Deploy teams on short notice to travel abroad and book travel arrangements, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Assist field teams with risk assessments and managers in ensuring safety protocols, prioritizing the well-being of team members.
  • Work with the senior desk editor or individually to identify and pitch key stories and editorial themes, showcasing your news judgment and creativity.
  • Verify stories by contacting local sources, government officials, companies, or related individuals, ensuring accuracy and credibility.
  • Work with NBC News's partners and affiliates to request video, editorial information, or assistance, fostering strong relationships and collaboration.
  • Find and transmit key video from agencies, archives, or elsewhere for news stories across the network, demonstrating your ability to think creatively and outside the box.
  • Support the edit room or field edits, providing valuable input and feedback to ensure high-quality content.
Requirements:
  • University degree or equivalent experience.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including overnights.
  • High standard of written English.
  • Polite phone manner and good communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork ethic.
  • Additional languages preferred.
