Job Title: Agricultural Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Agricultural Operations Manager to join our team at Norfolk County Council.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing the operation of Union Farm, a heritage farm at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse. This will involve working with a range of livestock, including heavy horses and cattle, and safely operating a range of farm machinery and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement farm management plans to ensure the efficient and effective operation of Union Farm.
  • Manage and maintain the health and welfare of livestock, including administering veterinary medicines.
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including traditional and modern equipment.
  • Work with the public, audiences, and colleagues at all levels to provide excellent customer service and promote the heritage farm.
  • Collaborate with the wider heritage site team to achieve shared goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree or industry-recognised qualification in a field such as agriculture, farm management, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience of working in a heritage farm setting, including working with and handling traditional breeds of livestock.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work with a range of stakeholders.
  • Good computer literacy and numeracy skills, with the ability to use a range of software applications.
