The Generator Engineering Team at GE Vernova is tasked with the design and engineering of motors and generators, ensuring optimized system solutions that align with the needs of our broader business units such as Industry, Marine, and Naval.
Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, the Generator Project Leader will take charge of a specialized generator program, leading a team responsible for ensuring the technical compliance of generator designs and production processes to meet specified requirements, timelines, and budget constraints. This role demands a high level of design assurance, ensuring that all customer-related documentation for the generator is delivered punctually.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team in the design, analysis, and delivery of generators for special projects, applying sound engineering principles while adhering to business standards and product requirements.
- Manage personnel directly, including staffing and performance development, leveraging extensive technical knowledge and analytical skills to execute strategies effectively.
- Utilize judgment to propose innovative solutions for complex manufacturing processes that involve technical variety and interdependent production cycles.
- Facilitate the collaborative phase of pre-contract technical specifications.
- Own the generator specifications and requirements, defining verification and validation activities for final acceptance.
- Ensure accurate implementation of product requirements and specifications in the design process.
- Support the mechanical design team in documenting, evaluating, and analyzing materials to capture essential design features for integrity.
- Demonstrate experience in Reliability, Maintainability, and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS).
Qualifications
- Proven experience in leading mechanical or electrical engineering teams.
- In-depth knowledge of Multi-Megawatt rotating machines, including engineering challenges and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with rotor dynamics, thermodynamics, noise and vibration (N&V), and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
- Experience in resource planning and scheduling activities.
- Proficient in engineering design processes, tools, and functional safety engineering.
- Extensive experience with Ansys and Creo 3D CAD modeling software.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications (2010+).
- Experience in Bill of Materials (BOM) creation and management.
- Knowledge of Teamcenter PLM systems is advantageous.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as necessary.
- Exceptional communication skills across all levels, both formal and informal.
