A leading plastic manufacturing organization is currently seeking a Safety and Compliance Leader to enhance their team.
Role Overview:
- We are in search of a seasoned Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) Officer to take full responsibility for site operations and provide comprehensive support to the organization on all matters related to Health and Safety, while also assisting in the upkeep of the environmental management system.
- This role primarily operates from Monday to Friday, with occasional out-of-hours commitment necessary to meet business requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, procedures, and regulations, regularly reviewing and updating them as necessary.
- Enhance and refine the HSE systems to uphold the company’s ISO14001 certification.
- Protect the organization by ensuring compliance with statutory obligations regarding health, safety, and workplace welfare, including necessary training and reporting.
- Document all accidents and incidents, conduct root cause analyses, and implement recommended improvements.
- Verify that site safety inspections, fire drills, and alarm systems are properly reported, and that safety inspections, risk assessments, and lone working procedures are effectively managed, ensuring employee awareness of their responsibilities.
- Stay informed on all relevant health, safety, and welfare legislation and communicate any pertinent changes to the organization.
Qualifications and Skills:
The ideal candidate will possess a background in the manufacturing sector as a Safety and Compliance Leader.
Essential qualifications and experience include:
- Over 3 years of experience in an industrial setting, particularly involving process equipment, chemicals, and materials.
- Prior experience in the manufacturing or chemicals industry.
- NEBOSH qualified (general certificate) and ideally holding a NEBOSH Environment Certificate and Fire Safety qualification.
- COSHH training is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Experience in conducting Health and Safety investigations.
- Proven ability to formulate, implement, and revise HS&E policies.
