Geriatrician Specialist Stroke Medicine

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Geriatrician to join our Elderly Medicine department. As a Specialist in Stroke Medicine, you will play a key role in developing and delivering high-quality care to our patients.
Service DevelopmentOur department has experienced rapid growth over the past seven years, offering numerous opportunities for service development in Elderly Medicine. We have a comprehensive portfolio of specialist elderly care services, and our team is committed to an inclusive and flexible approach to service development and support.
Collaboration and PartnershipWe work closely with our community health and social care providers, as well as Western Cheshire CCG, to deliver an integrated model that increases the utilisation of ambulatory and short stay care while supporting enhanced care delivery within the community.
Medical EducationThe Trust has a strong Medical Education department, and the post holder will have a significant educational role. The job plan rotates through General Geriatrics cover and Stroke Medicine cover as outlined in the indicative job plan.
About the TrustThe Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. We work collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership.
Our Facilities- The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 438 general and acute beds
- Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 56 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility
- Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.
We employ over 6258 staff (headcount) which includes temporary bank staff and provide acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services and obstetric services to a population of approximately 407,000. In 2022/2023, there were more than 503,342 patient attendances (inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic) ranging from a simple outpatient appointment to major cancer surgery.
Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. The cost of the DBS application is £23 (standard) or £43 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first three months of employment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service.
