We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic HR and Estates Director to join our team at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency. Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide corporate leadership to the organisation, driving operational delivery and transformation agenda through a high-performing workforce and enabling estate.
  • People Strategy: Develop and implement the DVLA people strategy to drive people and cultural change, adapting to transformation of services, wider government strategy, and the changing world of work.
  • Culture and Talent: Drive a high-performing culture, creating an inclusive culture congruent with a modern digital organisation and high standards and values expected of the Civil Service.

Person Specification

This role requires a highly experienced HR or Estates Management professional who can demonstrate experience of leading a HR or Estates function in an organisation with similar people and estates challenges in size and complexity.

  • Strategic Leadership: A strategic and inspirational future-thinking leader with background and knowledge in strategic leadership and senior decision-making in an organisation of similar size and complexity, with a strong customer focus.
  • Expertise: An expert in leading either a people or estates function, with extensive knowledge and experience that evidences the ability to be a credible voice across the portfolio to enable the development of the area and drive continuous improvements to ensure delivery of a quality service.
  • Senior Advisor: A senior advisor with experience of working with Boards, Committees, and senior stakeholders, influencing and making a positive impact with a range of senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Communication: A strong communicator with highly credible communication and influencing skills, both in writing and in person, with experience of building strong stakeholder relationships, high emotional intelligence, and engendering trusted relationships that achieve buy-in and commitment.
