Job Description

Our Commercial team has established strong relationships with our broking partners across the UK, thanks to our strategic approach of combining technical underwriting expertise with a highly responsive service.

We're seeking an experienced Commercial Underwriter to join our team, who will perform extensive account analysis according to underwriting guidelines, including thorough review of underwriting applications, consideration of risk management protocols, and research via online services.

The ideal candidate will have 5 years of demonstrable experience underwriting commercial combined or property business, with excellent analytical skills and solid knowledge of pricing and actuarial models.

They will also possess strong marketing and business development capabilities, with the ability to influence and negotiate at various levels of seniority, both internally and externally.

As a team player with a collaborative outlook, the successful candidate will be highly articulate, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and an advanced level of proficiency using underwriting systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform extensive account analysis according to underwriting guidelines
  • Conduct thorough review of underwriting applications and submissions
  • Consider risk management protocols and research via online services
  • Liaise with other Company departments to establish full understanding of risk exposures
  • Perform referrals with relevant AW contacts
  • Contribute to the formation of overall strategy and business plans

Requirements:

  • 5 years of demonstrable experience underwriting commercial combined or property business
  • Excellent analytical skills and solid knowledge of pricing and actuarial models
  • Strong marketing and business development capabilities
  • Highly articulate with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced level of proficiency using underwriting systems
