Job Title: Classroom Assistant - Special Educational Needs

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Classroom Assistant to join our team at the Education Authority. As a Classroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of children with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons to children with special educational needs.
  • Provide individualized support to children with special needs, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans.
  • Monitor and record children's progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date with best practices in special educational needs.
Requirements:
  • Hold a minimum of a Level 2 childcare qualification as approved by the Education Authority.
  • Have a minimum of three years' experience of working with children with special educational needs in a formal learning environment.
  • Evidence of a working knowledge of information technology systems, including Microsoft Word and Outlook, and/or C2K schools IT systems.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the requirements of a Classroom Assistant (special educational needs), child development issues, and health and safety requirements relevant to the role.
  • Ability to work flexibly and creatively to help ensure a child-centered learning experience.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven team working and collaborative skills.
  • Effective planning and organizing skills to ensure work is completed on time to the required standard.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Have a minimum of two years' experience of working with children with special educational needs.
  • Evidence of a suitable Level 3 qualification.
