We are seeking a proactive individual to assume the vital role of Scientific Services Director within our expanding UK operations, collaborating with leading names in the pharmaceutical industry.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership
- Collaborate with the inScience management team to propel the business forward, aligning with the expectations of Global Medical Communications leadership.
- Steer the strategic direction of the inScience Communications unit from a Scientific Services standpoint.
- Foster the development of Scientific Services personnel to meet both customer and business needs, including:
- Identifying and addressing skill gaps, particularly in strategic communications and writing.
- Providing coaching, mentoring, and training as necessary.
- Encouraging constructive feedback and development of writing skills through targeted projects.
- Implementing performance management systems and personal development plans.
- Accurately project sales, revenue, and costs while identifying risks and opportunities.
- Drive revenue targets by optimizing editorial resources.
- Manage costs effectively to enhance profitability.
- Monitor and approve budgeted costs related to editorial activities.
- Ensure adequate editorial resources are in place to meet current and anticipated workloads.
- Oversee recruitment and selection of Scientific Services staff in alignment with budgetary constraints.
- Enhance editorial efficiency and standards in collaboration with other Scientific Services Directors.
- Review scientific content to ensure alignment with client needs and internal quality standards.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to maintain quality and accuracy.
- Manage all aspects of scientific content delivery to meet client expectations and timelines.
- Utilize in-depth knowledge of the medical communications landscape to inform account plans and strategic initiatives.
- Contribute to high-quality proposals and pitches, ensuring alignment with client objectives.
- Engage with the inScience management team to oversee business unit operations.
- Promote teamwork across departments to optimize operational processes.
Education:
- Degree in life sciences (preferably pharmacy, pharmacology, or medicine) or equivalent.
- Higher degree and business qualifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Extensive experience in a communications agency.
- Significant management experience or equivalent.
- Leadership and financial management skills.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and interact effectively with clients.
- Strong presentation and resource management skills.
- Sound scientific knowledge across various therapeutic areas.
