EAL Specialist Teacher

Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Peripatetic Teacher of English as an Additional Language for a part-time role (0.8FTE). This position involves providing essential support to learners of English as an Additional Language (EAL) across various educational settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored educational support to EAL students in both primary and secondary schools.
- Engage in collaborative teaching methods, including one-on-one support and small group instruction.
- Monitor and assess the progress of bilingual learners, working closely with classroom teachers.
- Develop and prepare customized educational materials to facilitate curriculum access for bilingual pupils.
- Offer guidance and support to students regarding their educational journey.
- Ensure the health, welfare, and safety of all pupils.
- Collaborate effectively with parents, educational staff, and other professionals.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to staff training initiatives.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a recognized Teaching Qualification (Primary or Secondary) and be currently registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS).
Candidate Profile
Applicants should hold a valid UK driving license and have access to a vehicle, as travel to various locations is required. Significant experience in mainstream teaching within Scottish primary and/or secondary schools is essential. Previous experience in supporting EAL learners is advantageous.
