Job Description

Job Title: Outreach Teacher 0.7FTE

Job Type: Fixed Term until 17 August

Location: Perth and Kinross

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Outreach Teacher to join our team at Perth and Kinross Council. The successful candidate will provide specialist teaching input to children with complex needs in mainstream class settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to children with complex needs, including Communication, Social, Emotional or Behavioural needs, Autism, or who have experienced trauma.
  • Work alongside school staff and other partner agencies to provide a differentiated curriculum.
  • Contribute to identification, assessment, and planning, in partnership with families and partners.
  • Deliver small group and one-to-one teaching, in collaboration with class teachers and other support staff.
  • Use intervention materials to meet agreed targets.
  • Support colleagues to build capacity to support children with additional support needs in the classroom through modelling and training opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Primary Education or Secondary Education with experience in the Primary sector.
  • Full GTC Scotland registration.
  • Experience of planning and using active learning, differentiated, and child-centred approaches.
  • Experience of working with children and young people with a range of additional support needs.
  • Knowledge and experience of relevant current curriculum and assessment issues and developments.
  • Ability to use ICT in relation to learning and teaching.
  • Ability to apply and develop a variety of teaching strategies, adapted to the needs and interests of pupils with additional support needs.
  • Knowledge and experience of the application of relational approaches.
  • Ability to provide feedback to pupils and their parents on issues related to making progress and realising potential.
  • Full Driving Licence and access to own transport.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in writing Individualised Educational Programmes.
  • Undertaken CPD opportunities relevant to the post.
  • CALM Theory trained (de-escalation) or willing to undertake CALM (de-escalation) training.

Working Arrangements:

This post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
