Meaningful Impact in Reinsurance Analytics

We are seeking an Actuarial Analyst to join our Ceded Re Data and Analytics team and play a key part in Markel's Ceded Re analytics capabilities to improve our ability to analyse reinsurance structures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development of Markel's Ceded Re analytics capabilities to optimise reinsurance spend and risk appetite.
  • Collect and prepare data for Reinsurance renewal submissions, collaborating with Reinsurance Placement colleagues to ensure timely and accurate exhibits.
  • Build engaging data stories by analysing data movements and investigating material developments.
  • Support post-placement data capture and portfolio analysis, including spend analysis, cost allocation, and impact on profitability.
  • Improve current processes and develop reporting solutions and data visualisation techniques to provide valuable Ceded Reinsurance insights and services to the business.
  • Build strong working partnerships with data owners in the organisation.
Requirements:
  • Experience in the actuarial domain.
  • Understanding of insurance and actuarial concepts.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and Power BI.
  • Experience with data manipulation tools like SQL, Alteryx, or similar.
